2.1: Love From God for Others
John 15:4-5, 9 (AMPC)
"Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me. I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing... I have loved you, [just] as the Father has loved Me; abide in My love [continue in His love with Me]."
Abiding in God to Love Others
In order to love people the way God has called us to, we must abide in Him. Love is not just something God does—it’s who He is. Since love is a key characteristic of God, it must also be a key characteristic in our lives!
To do what you’re called to do, you must love people. Jesus commands us to go into the world and preach the Gospel, and this mission is only possible when we carry His love.
How Love for God Changes You
Your love for God will lead you to:
✅ Not Gossip – Matthew 22:37
When you genuinely love God, you won’t speak badly about the people He created.
✅ Hate Sin – Romans 6:1-3
If you love God, you will hate anything that goes against His Word.
✅ Hate Sickness – James 1:17
God is the giver of good and perfect gifts—sickness is not one of them!
✅ Keep from Offense – 1 Peter 4:8
Love covers a multitude of sins and forgives others freely.
